About Macadam Bay

A community on the Willamette, owned by the people who live here.

Macadam Bay sits along the west bank of the Willamette River in Portland, Oregon, tucked just south of the Sellwood Bridge. We're a member-owned moorage of floating homes — about eighty households arranged along shared walkways, with the river on one side and a wooded bluff on the other.

The community has been here for decades. Some residents have lived at Macadam Bay for thirty-plus years; others arrived last spring. What we share is a love for the river, our neighbors, and the slow, particular rhythm of life on the water.

Who lives here

A real cross-section of Portland: artists, retirees, software folks, teachers, families with kids, and a healthy number of dogs. Some have been here for decades, some are brand new.

Amenities

Shared walkways, gangways, a community space, kayak and paddleboard racks, a tool library, EV chargers, and the best Oaks Park fireworks seats in the city.

How it works

Macadam Bay is member-owned. An elected board handles governance, dues fund maintenance and improvements, and committees run social events and dock work. Members vote on the big calls.
